Chapel Of Love: Jeff Barry & Friends (Full Frame)
Jeff Barry, one of the most successful popular songwriters of the century, who along with Ellie Greenwich and Phil Spector, wrote many chart-topping hits, recently invited some of his favorite performs to star in a concert taped in Santa Barbara, California, for public television and now available on home video. The special band assembled by Jeff for the night presented the classics with new, fresh flavor, bringing updated arrangements conducted by Jeff. The show features songs "Chapel of Love" performed by The Dixie Cups, "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Then he Kissed Me" as sung by The Crystals, and "River Deep Mountain High" belted out by Mary Wilson of the Supremes. Amazing musical moments, with Brian Wilson singing his self-professed absolute favorite song, "Be My Baby," and Ronnie Spector giving a special charge to "I Can Hear Music," are joined by a heartwrenching "The Last Time I Made Love" by Jeffrey Osborne and Deniece Williams, Deniece's soulful rendition of "Honestly Love You," and Andy Kim's moving performance of "Baby I Love You." Ray Peterson's performance of "Tell Laura I Love Her" takes us back to a simpler time, and Ron Dante (of the Archies) performing "Sugar Sugar" and "Hanky Panky" makes us smile. The artists and Jeff also talk about the music, giving new insights into the writing and production of these classic songs. "Chapel Of Love" captures all of these, and other, special moments in this once-in-a-lifetime event.
